Delirium

Lena is excited about the "Cure". She lives in a society where love is banned, everything is planned out, including the person you will marry based on a test that you take. They call the disease deliria if you feel love at all. The "Cure" is the solution to deliria. Once you get it which is usually after you graduate high school, the deliria will go away and you pretend for the rest of your life. Lena is excited because she has no real connections with people. Her mom committed suicide and her father was murdered by the regulators. The regulators are the people in the government who kill the people who can't be cured. But then Lena meets Alex. He stirs something inside her and they start an amazing romance. But the romance can't last because her aunt wants her to hang out with her guy match for marriage after she receives the "Cure". Alex and Lena fall in love. She also finds out her mom was alive the whole time. After learning this she plans to run away with Alex to the Wilds. The Wilds are the forest/jungle past Portland where they can live in peace without the regulators butting in. But they get caught before they can make the escape. She makes it over the fence but Alex doesn't.
    I liked this book a lot because the main character reminds me of myself. Also a combination of Divergent and The Giver. This book is part of a trilogy and I am really excited for the sequel. It also reminded me of my 1st love. The obsession, the romance!!!

RoseBlood

This was a Phantom of the Opera spin-off. Rune moves to Paris, France to study music at the music school that is in the opera house where the famous phantom terrorized everyone. As soon as she arrives strange things happen. She finds a way to train her voice and make friends. The Phantom takes her prisoner and the Phantom's son Thorn develop a world win romance. What I liked about this story is not only is it written by one of my favorite authors but she followed the phantom story pretty well and added some new twist. It's kinda strange but it's good. But I would recommend being familiar with the Phantom of the Opera story before reading it. You will enjoy the story a lot more. She also explained some things about the movie that I didn't understand like keep your hand at the level of your eyes. This was said a lot in the movie and it means that back in the old times you had to keep up your arms by your face as an attack protection to prevent someone from taking you hostage or restraining you. The only thing that bothered me was what was the phantom doing all those years in between the original book and the sequel. Especially with the Christine aspect. She reveals some things about that too but I am not going to spoil it for Phantom of the Opera lovers like me. So you will just have to read it to find out.

Driven to Distraction Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood to Adulthood

This was a fantastic book in regards to the person who has Attention Deficit Disorder like me. The chapter focused on what it is, ADHD in children and adults, ADHD in couples, the family, subtypes; which basically means other disorders that can coincide with the disorder, how to determine if you have it, how to treat it, and the biology of it. Now I could go on and on about this book forever but I am not going to. But this book provided a lot of examples and studies of ADHD and I would recommend it to anyone who has the disorder and want to learn a lot of information about how the ADHD brain works and how to seek help and treatment. I am looking forward to reading Delivered From Distraction the 2nd book to this one. 

Before I Fall

This book was very good. Sam Kingston thinks she has a perfect life, the perfect boyfriend, and the perfect friends. But until she starts to repeat the same day over and over again does she realize that she doesn't have a perfect life. She is mean to people and she wants to change it.The main idea was to live like you could die at any moment because you can't predict when it will happen.This is a hard concept for me to do due to my anxiety disorder but I am working on it with my recovery group and with God. Also, the way that you treat people can have a real impact on them. Something simple as saying a mean comment can lead someone to commit suicide or many other horrible things. I really enjoyed the whole concept. The ending was sad but it really showed me the importance of laying your life down for someone.

Sleeping Beauties

Stephen King is not my usual read but the title really caught my eye. Once I read what it was about I was really intrigued. The book takes place in Dooling, a small town in the middle of nowhere. It focused mostly on the women’s prison. It takes place over 1 week. The women fall asleep like sleeping beauty, not to be awakened. They then form these cocoons around their bodies going to another world. The men are really freaked out by this and the women try their best to not fall asleep but they eventually succumb to it. The women also become violent if the cocoon wrapping is taken off. This all starts when this mysterious woman comes to town. She calls herself Eve Black. She is the only woman who can fall asleep and wake back up. As more women fall asleep more attention is brought to her. A lot of weird stuff happens. There is a part where you learn about where the women go after falling asleep. The women are sick of being treated badly by men and they develop their own way of life without men. Some of the men get violent and burn the bodies of the women. Some of the men seek to protect the women from this. They even plan a raid on the prison to find out how Eve can stay awake. They never really find out what her role totally is, which was a disappointment. That was the main thing I wanted to know was what is Eve Black? Because she has a lot of weird magic powers. She ends up going to the women in the other realm and asking them if they want to stay in the new world, utopia, or go back home to be with the men. They have to agree to the same decision.

           This book took me about two months to read. It took me longer to read because I also listened to it on audiobook which brought the book to life in a really great way. I liked a lot of it. The depth to character and eloquence that Stephen and Owen King bring to their stories is really fascinating. I really enjoyed this book. The theme of the book revolved around women empowerment and being a strong and independent woman which I really liked a lot. 

The Living Clearly Method

The Living Clearly Method was about how to use mindfulness by using 5 different principles perspective, breathing, grounding, balance, and letting go. It gave practical tips and ways to use yoga to stay in the moment. 

Inner Circle

This is the 5th book of the Private Series by Kate Brian. Reed has decided to go back to school and live in Billings House after everything that went down with her friends, her boyfriend, and her dead boyfriend, which is very courageous considering the circumstances. Noelle and the rest of her original posse are gone but she heads back ready to start fresh. But Cheyenne has other plans. She wants to run the house like a sorority and tradition but the dean wants it to stop. He selects 6 girls to live in Billings to replace the girl that left. Cheyenne is pissed and wants to torture the new guests by having them perform certain tasks. Reed and her but heads over it and she even attempts to steal her boyfriend as well. In the end, she commits suicide and blames Reed for ruining her life.
